Coming to you in the comfort of your own home and space to photograph your newborn is one of my favorite things. There is nearly nothing I can think of that is more stressful than having to pack up your family, prepare for all situations, and get to a photo studio while also looking good and having a sleeping baby the entire time. Honestly, having a newborn is already stressful enough- photos are supposed to be an enjoyable event and memory. There are already a lot of expectations…so why not have your photographer come to you.
After all, babies run on their own schedule and timelines. While you feed your new baby, we can select wrap colors, get to know your other children, and prepare each space we plan to use for photographs. Think of me like an extra set of hands ready and willing to rock your baby to sleep and spend the morning with you.
So what can you expect from your in-home newborn session?
- We will keep things simple. I don’t bring in lights or set ups. My focus is on you and your connections. Props are lovely, but give me a snuggly moments on your bed over elaborate set ups any day. Simple and so *you*.
- Looking for light. I will open all blinds and push back as many window coverings as possible to let all that glorious light in. If you are having doubts about how much light you have, let your photographer know or send photos of your space to make sure we have enough to work with.
- Tidy up- but don’t go overboard. I don’t need you to go crazy cleaning your house. You live there and you just had a baby- don’t get crazy cleaning. Focus on tidying up your master bedroom, main living area, and nursery. Once I get there, I can move items that may be distractions.
- Timing and temperature- all my clients get a guide for how to prepare for their session, but this is the big one that can throw people off. Please make sure if you don’t follow any other advice given, that you adjust the temp of your home and adhere to the timeline provided.
Let the rest flow- I will help guide you into natural positions, encourage all the snuggles, and we will make beautiful, stress free, memories happen.
