At some point we tell ourselves that portraits aren’t for us anymore. You know what I am talking about… Your children are born, suddenly your phone and social media are full of pictures of your baby. They get older and the picture taking slows down. Suddenly you are in the trenches, raising babies and getting to after school practices, maintaining a household and working. Birthday pass. Milestones are celebrated. but we don’t stop to celebrate ourselves on this journey.

When I went to visit my mom, I urged her to get in front of the camera. She hates it. Loathes it, in fact. But to not have these memories for myself and my children? My heart pulled in my chest with such urgency that I could not ignore it. And so, she relented and I could not be more thrilled with the results.
I urge you to listen to the calling inside. Be kind to yourself and book the session- if not for you, then for your family.

- You deserve it! Period! Get dressed up, do something and wear something that makes you feel magical and beautiful. Find an artist you admire and trust that makes you feel comfortable and push yourself to document this season.

- It’s a reflection- what do I mean by that? I often tell people I want to reflect their beauty back to them- on the hard days, on the days when the photo doesn’t represent how you feel about yourself and you’re knee deep in the hard stuff of life, these photos serve as a reflection to remind you that you are still very much this beautiful person in these images. No matter what kind of day you are having- these are real and true.
Because of an urging in my heart, my family now has these beautiful images of my mother to cherish and enjoy forever. No matter your reason, no matter how you want the photoshoot to look, don’t wait to make it happen. Each season is a blessing.
