Maternity Session

Ashley Newman Photography {Tuscaloosa, AL}

Waiting is one of the sweetest parts…I had a great time with this fun couple and I can’t wait until their sweet baby arrives!
For their session we got to try out two different locations- it’s a huge advantage since I began offering longer sessions times. I can be more flexible and do more with my clients during the session. Natalie wanted something simple and the WG Jones Forest offered the natural backdrop that would highlight this special family.
I really had a blast laughing with them and getting to know them as we worked. A mini session just doesn’t hold a candle to a full session. We we walked and looked for the ideal spots to stop and snag a picture- at one point I asked if she wanted to show her belly or not.

As we finished up in the wooded area of the forest, I suggested we walk over to the field near the state park. It’s an open field now, but only because it will become a shopping center soon. I hate to lose a neat place like that to buildings, but it was fun to use the space and explore the light together. Natalie laughed as she stepped out of the car in the sheer maternity gown and faced the busy street in front of us. I knew what she was thinking- all these cars will see right through this dress! But she was brave and faced my camera with pride and a smile on- especially because the dress feels more shear and see-through than it actually is ;) We got some incredible shots and when she saw her sneak peek up on Facebook, she laughed and said she knew it was worth it! I’m so glad she trusted me!
It's longer sessions like this where I started to feel connected to the families I work with.

Their session also includes a Fresh 48, so that sense of family and inviting me in to their world has really been built up as a result. Natalie trusted me with her maternity pictures and I can't wait to meet their new baby girl!
