Twins at a Family Session

Got multiples? Got twins? Man on man, you need tp check out this family!
When we had our children, we went from thinking we would never have any children at all to having 3 kids in 2 years. It was A LOT! Factor in trying to capture every moment and get family portraits done? Let’s just say it was only a little stressful (said with sarcastic love, of course).
So how do families do it? How do you have a sessions without losing your mind and still get good pictures?

• Plan ahead- I know it’s easier said that done, but the truth is that if you plan ahead and prepare yourself for pictures, you will be ready to face whatever comes. So plan outfits, schedule your session ahead of time and give yourself the time you need to get it done.

• Embrace whatever happens. Yeah, this one is hard. But with littles, the best thing to do is focus on capturing who they are and not getting that Pinterest worthy smile. Do some of your favorite activities- read books, play chase, kiss and snuggle. One day they will pose and give you all the smiles. For now, embrace these little years and let them be who they will be.

• Let your photographer know. This helps me so much! I always ask names and ages of children and of course if there are any special needs but it helps us to know we have a double-threat of fun coming our way 😉

• Bring snacks and take breaks.

• Know your family- if you don’t think your children will be able to make it to the end of a longer session, prepare to have that time filled with simple activities or even have a helper attend the session. This will give you and your spouse time at the end for some long over due couples pictures and for any organic moments to happen naturally on their own. Most kids do great for the first 30-45 minutes of a session. 😉
