5 Styling Tips For Family Pictures

Being an outdoor photographer, I often rely on the simple beauty of natural to highlight your family. No distracting backgrounds, no busy locations…just you guys. That is the beauty of lifestyle photography— but I still know and understand the stress of planning family photos. From timing to what to wear- it’s a lot!

Every ANP client has access to a style guide and Ashley to personally help you plan and pick what to wear. Here are some basic tips for selecting outfits and styling your family- look amazing at your next session!!

• Find a focal point- select one color or texture that stands out.

• Choose a color scheme- ideally imagine these images hanging in your home and coordinate with that.

• Play up your strengths- don’t try a new style. If you know what looks amazing on you and feels good, start there first.

• Layers on layers!!! Add a sweater, jacket, hat or scarf to keep things visually interesting.

• Mix it up- don’t be afraid to mix and match textures and colors.
